KITA (Chairman: Jin Sik Yoon) hosted Korea's Foreign Work Force & Immigration Policy Transition Forum on Monday, 13 July at KITA HQs in Seoul.
This forum was organised to take proactive action against declining working age population triggered by low birth and agening and also to have an opportunity to ponder on long-term direction of labour and immigration policies that fit our social and industrial needs. Approximately 100 people attended the forum, including KITA Chairman Jin Sik Yoon, IOM Korea Chief Ms. Min-Whee Kang, experts from home and abroad and representatives from relevant institutions and companies.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Yoon mentioned, "Foreign labourer and immigration policies are directly linked with ensuring Korea's industrial competitiveness and the sustainability of our economy rather than being limited to issues about securing workforce." He also stresssed, "More attention is needed on this issue and institutional measures should be introduced to help companies secure talented employees without disruption and support them to unleash their full potential."
