KITA (Chairman: Jin Sik Yoon), South African Chamber of Commerce Korea (SAFCHAM) and the Korea - Africa Foundation (KAF) co-hosted South Africa - Korea Business Forum on Thursday, 30 October local time in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This forum was organised to support more business collaboration between the two countries and was attended by approximatealy 70 key government officials and business representatives. Attendees discussed possible avenues for boosting economic cooperation and collaborative projects by focusing on three key areas of bilateral cooperation: a) industrialisation, b) digitalisation and c) decarbonisation.
Aside from this forum, KITA also opened a new office in Africa - KITA Johannesburg Centre - which will serve as a gateway to entering the African market. This new office is the first-ever KITA centre to be established in the African continent and will be responsible for performing the following duties with an aim to support Korean companies to entering the African market : a) carrying out research and providing updates on the African market and up-to-date trade issues, b) supporting networking activities and more robust collaboration between Korean and African companies and c) forging stronger working relations with African governments and institutions.
