A webinar on the EU’s recent issues on patents

Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) hosted a “Webinar on the EU’s recent issues on patents” on November 24th.

Officials from KITA’s FTA Comprehensive Support Center, the Delegation of the EU to Belgium, RGTH - a law firm based in Germany and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) office in Frankfurt took part in this webinar. They provided information to officials concerned from relevant fields on Korea’s support schemes related to patents, the EU’s up-to-date move in regards to its patent rules and examples of applying for a trademark.

Hyeon-hee Park, a patent specialist affiliated with the Delegation of the EU to Belgium, said, “A consolidation of patent-related rules of EU nation has been ongoing for many years as European nations’ patent rules are very complex and it is commonplace for individual nations rendering different decisions for a single issue.” The specialist pointed out, “As an effort to consolidate patent-related rules is accelerating in the EU with “Single Patent Rule Implementation Legislation” coming into effect in Germany, it is imperative for our companies to keep an eye on the EU’s move into the future.”
