Special Lecture on Introduction to Intellectual Property Rights and Acquiring Overseas Certification

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) Comprehensive FTA Support Center hosted ‘Special Lecture on Introduction to Intellectual Property Rights and Acquiring Overseas Certification for Medical Equipment’ online on July 16.

Deputy Section Chief Ko Young-jae of the Comprehensive FTA Support Center gave a presentation on an assistance program for duty-free products, and Senior Researcher Ko Hyung-seung and Roh Sang-il from the Korea Testing & Research Institute presented on how to get medical equipment  approved in Central America, Southeast Asia, and Europe. In addition, Patent Attorney Park Sung-joon from Eruumleeon gave a lecture on applying for domestic and international patent and trademark.

Senior Researcher Ko Hyung-seung stated, “In order to distribute medical equipment in Brazil, products must be registered at the Brazil National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), but only local companies with medical equipment sales license are eligible to apply. Certain medical equipment may require certifications from the National Institute of Metrology Standardization in Industrial Quality (INMETRO) prior to ANVISA application, so detailed researches are needed beforehand.
