    KITA Held 2019 General Meeting


    -  Suggested 6 promotion strategies, including enhancing global competency of the member companies as well as start-ups  -


      The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim Young-joo) held a regular general meeting at COEX in Samseong-dong on February 21st, and announced six promotion strategies, including supports for start-ups to make inroads into overseas markets.



      At the general meeting attended by some 600 representatives of the trade industry, Discovering new export engine and strengthening global competitiveness of member companies were adopted as this years business goals. The participants agreed to focus on the following six strategies:  to provide customized support for members and enhance global competence,  to support start-ups to make inroads into overseas markets and make innovative growth,  to develop emerging markets and advance export platform,  to respond to new trade orders and build global networks,  to foster human resources in trade and create jobs in Korea and abroad, and  to expand MICE infrastructure and realize social value.



      Chairman Kim Young-joo said in his opening speech, "It is forecast that the export situation will be more difficult than usual this year due to the spread of trade protectionism, slowing global economic growth, and downward trends in semiconductor and IT industries. He also stressed, The Korea International Trade Association will exert every effort for trade industry to strengthen the global competency through innovative growth.



      Chairman Kim specifically said We will integrate on-line and off-line overseas marketing functions and expand economic cooperation with the countries in the new southern and new northern regions. He added, "We will actively carry out trade cooperation activities such as supporting the establishment of the government's trade policies, building US-China networks, and operating  private trade consultative body.


      The Korea International Trade Association plans to provide customized trade information based on Big Data, to support start-ups overseas expansion through a win-win cooperative business model between global conglomerates and innovative start-ups, and to make efforts to build future trade infrastructure by making the trade center a global landmark and creating Jamsil Mice Valley.


      The trade representatives attended the general meeting made decisions on KITAs business plans and detailed implementation strategies and requested KITA to take more active measures to resolve the industrys difficulties.
