Tower Seoul Transformed into K-POP Attraction
- The first free outdoor billboard display
zone in Korea, expected to combine media, culture and art ?
The Trade
Tower in Samseong-dong, a symbol of global business, is transformed into an
international attraction with full of outdoor advertising and K-POP.
The Korea
International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim Young-joo) has announced that it
will start the official operation of "SMTOWN Outdoor Billboard Media"
from March 25, following 'Crown Media' at the end of last year, after the Trade
Tower area was designated as the first free outdoor billboard display zone in
December, 2016. 'SMTOWN Outdoor Billboard Media' is the largest super high-definition
outdoor advertising media in Korea with the screen of 80.8m in width and 20.1m
in length. K-POP music videos and a variety of content will be displayed.
The Korea
International Trade Association also plans to install 10 more billboard media in
the Millennium Square, which will be connected to Samseong Station on Subway
Line 2 by June.
An official
at the Korea International Trade Association said, "Trade Center Digital
Media will perform commercial functions by beaming out commercials, media arts
and K-POP music videos and also play a public role by displaying public
content. In a long term perspective, the organization plans to create a ‘Korean
version of Times Square’ that combines advertising media, culture and
art."
