    China’s Powerful e-Commerce Jingdong Visits Korea to Seek Korean Brands 

    -KITA, Jingdong.com and Chinese Economic Network signed MOU and held a seminar - 

    - Jingdong tries to expand Korean products despite THAAD issues - 

     

    The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman Kim In-ho), Jingdong (CEO, Liu Qiangdong)and China Economic Network (CEO, Wang Xudong), China’s national economic portal website, signed a business agreement and held a seminar on the entry strategies to China's online market through Jingdong at Koreana Hotel in Seoul on September 12 (Tuesday).

     

    In this event, more than 200 officials from Korean small and medium-sized companies attended and A Report on 2017 China's Online Consumption Trends of Korean Products" which was jointly surveyed by Jingdong.com and the China Economic Network was presented. The Korea International Trade Association introduced a variety of online sales strategies to enter into the Chinese market.Jingdoong.com selected seven Korean brands such as Nongshim, Orion, AHC, and Handock Fashion and presented awards and broadcast live it to Chinese viewers through Chinese Economic Network online channel.

     

    Jingdong.com is the top e-commerce company in China, one of the Fortune 500 companies and NASDAQ listed company. It operates the online platform 'JD.com', which has an annual total turnover of 155 trillion won and 200 million active users. The company is recently is a leading global e-commerce enterprise that is spurring advanced technology development such as unmanned drone delivery and artificial intelligence. In addition, Jingdong.com is running ‘Jingdong Worldwide’ as an overseas direct sales platform on which the consumers in any countries in the world such as Korea can purchase high quality brand products.

     

    The Chinese Economic Network is an economic medium established by the Chinese central government and is a subsidiary of the Economic Daily, one of the three major newspapers in China. It posts articles through various channels, including blogs and podcasts, and operates a platform (www.ce.cn) with 50 million average daily page views.

     

    Upon this memorandum of understanding, the three organizations, the Korea International Trade Association, Jingdong.com, and the Chinese Economic Network will cooperate in various fields by helping Korean companies enter into JD.com and promoting them, holding joint events such as bilateral seminars and conferences and spreading awareness of e-commerce, and producing broadcast content relating to Korean products shopping in China.

     

    Kim Jung-kwan, vice president of the Korea International Trade Association, said With this business agreement, we hope that economic exchanges between the two countries, which have been declining for a while, will increase and JD.com will be another good channel for excellent Korean products to be introduced to Chinese consumers. 

     

    Meanwhile, officials from the organizers of the event as well as both governments, including the vice-chairman Kim Jung-kwan of the Korea International Trade Association, Li Xi  Jingdong.com Vice District Governor and Lei Yue the CE SeniorVice President took part in the event.
